Writing Tips

One of my favorite parts of writing the My Rotten Stepbrother series is coming up with the writing tips at the end. If you enjoy like them, too, then this is the part of the website for you! On this page, I’ll post some additions to those tips, as well as some writing exercises you can do after reading them. Have fun… and happy writing!

Want to Ruin Your Favorite Book? Here’s How!

This tip, included at the end of My Rotten Stepbrother Ruined Cinderella, is all about how to create something new from your own favorite stories. Kind of like I did with “ruining” these fairy tales. (I use the word “ruin” a lot, but of course, there’s nothing bad about writing your own version of someone else’s story. You’re not ruining the original, just creating your own wonderful new thing of its own.)

Want to Write Great Characters? Try Ruining Yourself!

In this writing tip from the end of My Rotten Stepbrother Ruined Beauty & the Beast, I talked about how to take interesting aspects of your own personality and push them to extremes to make cool characters. In fact, you can do this with anyone you know, or even with famous people in history.

Now it’s your turn! Grab something to write with and click here for a fun exercise in creating characters!
